FAQ / Rates

Q. Are you available 24/7?

My standard hours for scheduled services are Monday-Friday 8am-7pm.

I’m generally available by phone most of the time. My home-office phone -- (206) 361-0761 -- auto-transfers to my cell when I’m in the field.

Q. Can you help me with other services than those you list?

I am connected to a team of people who offer a variety of services, including Web design, Web and e-mail hosting, Personal one-on-one software instruction, Quickbooks support, hard-wire network cable installations, difficult access for DSL and T1 installations, and commercial telephone (PBX) networks.

Q. In what areas are your services available?

I provide on-site service in most of King County and southern Snohomish County, within the triangle of Lynnwood, Issaquah, and Burien.

There is a minimum one-hour charge for on-site service (no charge for travel time).

Q. Will you need to make separate trips to troubleshoot, then fix, my problem?

When I am providing on-site service to clients, I carry an extensive line of computer components, cables, and software. It is very rare that I have to make a second trip because I didn't have something on hand.

Q. How much do your services cost?

Standard rate (single, non-networked computer or home user): $116/hr.

Standard network rate (business or home office): $136/hr.

For emergency or unscheduled service add 40% to above rates.

ComputerSmith in-house Tech Shop rate $100/hr.

Q. How do you itemize your charges?

My invoices spell out in detail everything I do to your system. When you call me for service six months or several years later, we can review the invoice to check what has or has not been covered.

Q. What happens when you go on vacation?

I have agreements (and friendships) with two other highly experienced independent computer consultants. If I am unavailable, their phone numbers will be available on my voice mail.

Q. I depend on you. What are your future plans?

I have no plans to move on to another business, accept an employment offer from anther business, or to complicate my life by hiring employees (been there done that).

I’m happy with my income, I’m happy with my clients, and I’m very happy with my personal life. I am not a person to retire and sit around, so it looks like you will be able to depend on me to provide “Computer Service and Support Beyond Your Expectations” for at least another ten to fifteen years.
